Mountain Views, Italian Moods: The Subtle Details That Brought It to Life

Hailee + Max had an early- autumn wedding set in the stunning mountains of McCall, Idaho. The vibe: Romantic elegance with an Italian influence meets the natural beauty of the McCall mountains. The crisp, clean mountain air, the light rain just before the ceremony, every detail worked to tell a story, to take you on a journey. It was so much fun to be a part of this day and to curate so many special details that helped take it to the next level.

I wanted to take a moment to point out 5 key details about this dreamy wedding that spoke volumes into the storytelling of the day, crafting an experience for the Hailee + Max, their families and for every guest who attended:

1. The Herbs, Veggies + Fruits in the Tablescapes

We sprinkled these elements alongside the flower clusters to add interest and entice the senses. Each one helped us achieve that subtle whisper of an Italian vibe:

  • Fresh garlic heads added new shapes and texture.
  • Fresh, local green + variegated grapes brought effortless, rustic Italian charm.
Side note: these were sourced locally from the backyard of our friends at The Bloom Smith!
  • Artichokes + lemons contributed texture, color, and scent.
  • Small potted herbs in rustic terra-cotta pots added whimsical movement and the most delicious burst of fresh Italian herb fragrance.
Side note: All of the herbs went home with the family to be planted in their gardens!

2.The Natural Moss + Stones in the Ceremony Aisle and Meadow

Moss is almost always an important part of a floral meadow, but for this one, we took it a step further. Wanting to pull in the natural mountain-scape that served as the ceremony’s backdrop, we collected big rocks to incorporate all the way down the aisle and into the meadow—of course, with the gracious permission of the venue owners at Bear Creek Lodge!

Rustique Rentals and Event Design quite literally “set the stage” with a beautiful wooden platform for the ceremony. We added our urns and pottery bursting with bright white and green blooms, but the quiet detail that tied it all together—softening the scene and creating a more natural transition between the stage and pots—was the moss + stones. The clean, white-and-green mono-botanical floral groupings felt even more at home in their setting with the mossy clusters and large, shapely stones integrated throughout the overall design.

3. Custom Urns + Pottery

I started with a collection of leftover, thrifted, and gifted urns, pots, and containers. It took time, elbow grease, and more than a few trips to the hardware store, but each one was carefully cleaned, textured, and painted to create an eclectic yet clean and cohesive design that carried through the entire day. From the ceremony to the reception, every container was intentional, adding depth, texture, and a touch of old-world charm. Keep an eye out for them on my Rental Inventory page! And don't be shy about asking for an item you don't see on that page- I do have low key inventory that I just dont have listed.

4. Mono-Botanical Groupings
In case you haven’t heard, mono-botanical groupings are a design technique where only one flower variety is used in an arrangement, showcasing its form, texture, and color in abundance. We used this throughout the wedding—in the supporting bouquets, the ceremony meadow and aisle designs, and even mixed into the tablescapes! I love this technique for its understated elegance while still making a dramatic, abundant statement that captivates every time. One of my favorite ways to pull off this look on a large scale is with potted plants. For Hailee + Max, I used potted hydrangeas and larger olive trees from Growing Wild Greenhouse in Boise—perfect for small and large-scale plant rentals!

5. The Pasta Bar
We created a beautiful display pasta bar to showcase the dinner menu, complete with fresh heirloom tomatoes, herbs, fun dry pastas, lemons, bread, nuts, oil, olives, artichokes, and garlic. I love getting creative with custom, personalized elements, and this was such a fun way to enhance the Italian-inspired vibe and the overall atmosphere of the evening.

And in the spirit of sustainability, we made sure to minimize waste wherever possible. Most of the ingredients—tomatoes, dry pasta, lemons, nuts, oil, and artichokes—were rescued at the end of the night, with nearly everything cleaned, cooked, and enjoyed afterward. Again, the potted herbs went home with the family to be planted in their gardens, and the fresh garlic heads were for display only and borrowed from our friends at DCR Farms.

Ok, I have to share just one more bonus element that needs a moment in the spotlight: The Foliage Installations! This detail is so valuable when warming up the space, softening sharp edges and making the space feel welcoming. We installed Smilax foliage over the dance floor with the cafe lights for a twinkling and magical effect and in the reception tents, climbing up the center tent poles. Per usual, our Smilax was shipped in from our friends at East Texas Smilax.
